Toronto Hunt Club

The Toronto Hunt was established in 1843 and is a private club owned exclusively by its members. It was incorporated in Ontario as a Not-for-Profit Corporation without share capital in 1930. It has a long history of standing traditions, but its high level of pride in membership has never wavered. The Club has one of the finest locations in the Greater Toronto Area, with a spectacular setting and unrivaled vistas on the bluffs overlooking Lake Ontario. It is truly a hidden gem in the heart of the city.

The golf course boasts a challenging 9 holes that have recently undergone extensive renovations under the watchful eye of golf course architect Thomas McBroom. The Club currently has approximately 850 members, including 525 golfers and 325 social members. The number of available golf memberships is limited to ensure the preservation of the Club’s long standing tradition that no starting times are required for play at any time.

Additional Info

The Toronto Hunt features an enviable food and beverage operation that is comparable to the many fine dining establishments in the city. Away from the hustle bustle of downtown with an outstanding view, it is one of the most sought after locations for weddings and private parties hosted by our members.

These Initiatives

The Toronto Golf Gala is really focused on ‘Developing Life Skills Through Golf’. Golf Ontario and its’ partners deliver many great programs that help achieve this important goal with our youth. See below to learn more …

The Toronto Golf Gala aims to benefit on course programs at the community level. It emphasizes the availability of Learn programs for youths and stresses their values. Programs like Future Links where importance is placed on: Skill Development, Fitness and Health, Golf 101, Playing and Competition, Mind Matters and Life Skills. The Toronto Golf Gala supports programs and values like these as they help to shape kids through the sport and to build the foundation for life success.

Initiatives such as club caddie programs, where individuals are introduced to the game, but also given the opportunity to work in the industry and be set up for future successes, will also benefit from the Toronto Golf Gala.

In addition, the Toronto Golf Gala will enhance the Golf Ontario Community initiative by providing support for Communities so that they can run their own community-specific Learn programs. These programs vary between communities based on what the specific needs of each community are.

The Toronto Golf Gala looks to help foster the growth of golf programming in Ontario Schools. The National Golf in Schools Program will receive support at the provincial level. This allows more schools to become part of the program and more children be introduced to the game at a younger age.

Programs like Golf in Schools are an important element as they are run in conjunction with industry partners such as: Physical and Health Education Canada (PHE Canada), Golf Canada and the PGA of Canada.

Much like the life skills that are learned in on-course programming, golf school programs also have a strong life lessons component that helps to use the sport of golf to build positive members of the community.

Supporting Ontario youth centres is another key element of the Toronto Golf Gala. Partnering and supporting youth centres in the various communities across the province, is a way that golf can be an outlet for youths facing barriers and help them reach their full potential. The Toronto Golf Gala benefits these community centres so that they can provide golf opportunities at their facility and run partner programs with Golf Ontario.

The Golf Ontario Scholarship Program has been supporting student golfers since its inception in 1996. The program has now given more than $150,000 to deserving students as the further their education at the post secondary level. The Toronto Golf Gala will provide further support to the Scholarship Program for students to further their education and careers.

Helping our youth Develop Life Skills Through Golf is what your contribution to this event will help enable. Here are some recent success stories to help illustrate the impact your contributions will have.

Meghan Bennett, 21, is a redshirt sophomore at Florida Atlantic University. Originally from Pickering, Ontario, Meghan is a proud alumni of the Team Ontario (U19) junior program and a past provincial champion. In 2016 she was awarded the Helena Harbridge Award, part of the Golf Ontario Scholarship Program.

Golf In Schools

Whether it’s indoors or outdoors the Golf in Schools Program is bringing the game of golf to Canadian schools. This program has been developed for teachers to provide students the opportunity to develop aspects of “physical literacy” related to the sport of golf, and increase student knowledge and appreciation for the sport of golf.

Initiatives such as club caddie programs, where individuals are introduced to the game, but also given the opportunity to work in the industry and be set up for future successes, will also benefit from the Toronto Golf Gala.

Golf Ontario is developing a community program which builds pathways for all participants to be introduced to golf and the opportunities it can provide to enhance their lives. This will allow for participation, caddy/employment programs and scholarships. Using golf, the program will instill life enhancing values that build character and promote healthy choices through golf.

Offered to young people from all walks of life, the program will help shape their futures by reinforcing values such as respect, perseverance, integrity and honesty. By incorporating these values and the rules of the game of golf, participants will learn important leadership and life skills.

This program will introduce golf to many participants for the first time. Some of Golf Ontario’s junior golf programs will be brought to communities which currently may not have any available, especially in economically challenged areas.

Exposure to golf will offer those involved the opportunity to learn these key values and help translate these skills into day-to-day life.
